Springdale’s Jones Center: A Welcoming Place for Family Fun

Since 1995, the Jones Center has provided a place of sport, recreation, and community for the citizens of Springdale and beyond. Over the years, the staff has made quite a number of efforts to improve and expand on the facilities offered.

The newest addition to the Center is the Runway Bike Park, located in a greenspace just outside the Center. According to the Jones Center’s communications manager Jake Lane, “the bike park was conceived out of an idea to give a training ground for aspiring mountain bikers in the flourishing Oz Trails network of mountain bike trails in Northwest Arkansas.” The locale provides opportunities for children to learn how to ride a bicycle as well as a place to better one’s cycling skills. Funding for the Runway Bike Park was provided by the Walton Family Foundation. In addition, the Center’s gymnastics studio was recently renovated, and the cycle studio has received all-new spin bikes.

Recently, the Jones Center announced new classes in gymnastics and basketball, as well as cooking classes for children.

Summer camps for 2019 have also been announced. These included skating for beginning and advanced learners, basketball, art, soccer, and “multi-sport.”

The Jones Center is committed to being a diverse, welcoming place for families of all kinds.

“Many Latinos reserve our rooms for baby showers, quinceñeras, weddings, and receptions,” says Lane. “Lots of Latino families enjoy coming to swim in the pool or ice skate, as well,” he adds. “It’s a fun, diverse play where all are welcome.”
