Arkansas Children’s Northwest in Springdale is the nation’s newest children’s hospital. In addition to the 24/7 emergency room — the only pediatric emergency room in Northwest Arkansas — the campus provides primary care, surgical services, inpatient care and outpatient care with a full range of diagnostic services.

Emergency Services
According to Emergency Room Nursing Director at Arkansas Children’s Northwest Keith Veit, there are clear benefits to taking your child to a pediatric ER compared to an adult hospital or urgent care clinic.

“The patient base in an average emergency room is roughly 20% children. So, that tells you that 80% of their focus is on the adult population,” explains Veit. “At ACNW, 100% of our focus is on children. That means our providers — our doctors, our nurses, our therapists — all come with a unique set of pediatric skills and focus. So, a parent who brings his or her child to an emergency room at a children’s hospital will have the peace of mind that comes with knowing that child is in the hands of an expert trained to treat only children.”

The Emergency Room at ACNW provides a full range of emergency care for children. The pediatric specialists can treat any emergency your child experiences, from the flu to broken bones. There is a full range of imaging and diagnostic services, plus general surgeons, orthopedic specialists and other pediatric subspecialists on staff.
