Penguin Ed's

This season is all about BBQ, and a visit to Penguin Ed’s should definitely be on your list of warm weather to-dos. They’ve been smokin’ and turning out mouthwatering meals in Northwest Arkansas for more than 25 years. The restaurant started out smoking barbecue from a trailer at the crossroads of Crossover and Mission Boulevard in Fayetteville. Hot in the summer, cold in the winter, with barely enough room for two people to stand side-by-side, Penguin Ed’s has come a long way from its humble roadside beginnings. The more-than-just-barbecue business has grown to include two restaurants in Fayetteville, now open with curbside, pick up or dine-in…indoors or on the new patio at the historic B&B location.

Penguin Ed’s perfectly-smoked, tender, juicy barbecue and signature sauces have been winning awards and loyal customers since the beginning. Any of their scrumptious BBQ dinner plates make a great lunch or dinner choice. They include Texas toast, sides, smoked meat and their famous BBQ sauce. Enjoy their famous homemade burgers, made with fresh beef patties seasoned and formed in-house daily. Or—back by popular demand—their black bean and veggie burgers. And they also make great hot wings, fresh salads — and of course, mouthwatering cookies.

Specials

Make sure to check out the website for scrumptious new daily specials at both locations.

Plus, they’ve brought back Penguin Ed’s Prime Rib Saturday nights from 5 p.m. on, at the Mission location, king and queen cut. And start your Sunday at the Mission location by indulging in their Quiche Special. Choose from two mouthwatering homemade quiches: bacon, onion and cheddar or Florentine, available Sundays only, while supplies last.

And to top it all off, indulge in their mouth-watering banana and chocolate cream pies, also available at the Mission location, in addition to their cookies!

For those who don’t know, owner Ed Knight’s daughter, Audrey, began making cookies with her grandmother’s family recipe to sell in the restaurant way back when, and it wasn’t long before the barbecue crowd fell in love. Penguin Ed’s had another hit on their hands.

Penguin Ed’s offers Take & Bake Cookie Kits for purchase with 24 hours notice. Just call and let them know which cookie kit you would like to order, complete with baking instructions. Get the Baker’s Dozen, 13 cookies ready to pop into the oven at home for $12.95. Choose from Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Peanut Butter, Snickerdoodle, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip Toffee Pecan, M&M, Neiman Marcus or White Chocolate Apricot.

Or you can get a quart of their delectable sugar cookie dough to go. Let the kids have fun rolling it out, and creating their own shapes. About 25 mini cookies can be baked with a quart, for $19.95.

Catering

Maybe you’re just too darned tired to cook. Place a catering order and Penguin Ed’s will help you plan for your event. They’ll show up with your food and serve it, or have it ready to pick up at one of their locations. Just let them know what you want to eat, how much you want to eat, and when and where you would like to eat it. They’ll take care of the rest!

Of course, they specialize in BBQ, but they can cater all kinds of delicious food, including fried catfish, baked potatoes, salads, vegetarian choices, finger foods, hors d’oeuvres, burgers, hot dogs, cobblers – they’ve done it all! Check out the full catering menu on their website.

Historic B & B and Mission locations open for dining-in, take out, curbside or delivery

Penguin Ed’s B&B location on 230 S. East Avenue is now OPEN for dining-in, either inside or on the newly remodeled outdoor patio. They’ve completely renovated the patio at the historic location, complete with clear sidewalls and heaters.

On the east side of Fayetteville, Penguin Ed’s Mission and Crossover location is OPEN for dining-in, take out, curbside service and home delivery with Bite Squad, 7 days a week.
