Penguin Ed's: Historic and Delicious

This local favorite is still smokin’ and turning out mouthwatering meals. The restaurant started out more than 25 years ago smoking barbecue from a trailer at the crossroads of Crossover and Mission Boulevard in Fayetteville. Hot in the summer, cold in the winter, with barely enough room for two people to stand side-by-side, Penguin Ed’s has come a long way from its humble roadside beginnings. The more-than-just-barbecue business has grown to include three restaurants across Fayetteville. And it will take more than a pandemic to keep them down. Their perfectly-smoked, tender, juicy barbecue and signature sauces have been winning awards and loyal customers since the beginning. But they also make praise-worthy burgers, hot wings, fresh salads —and of course, mouthwatering cookies to top it off.

Historic B & B location open

Penguin Ed’s historic B&B location on 230 S. East Avenue is now open for socially-distanced dining-in, either inside or on the newly remodeled outdoor patio. They are open 7 days a week: Monday-Thursday 11 a.m – 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

On the east side of Fayetteville, Penguin Ed’s Mission and Crossover location is OPEN for take out, curbside service and home delivery with Bite Squad, 7 days a week: Sunday – Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.

You can call either location for take out, pay with your card over the phone and then they’ll bring your order out to your car! No touching of credit/debit cards, no need to come in, just the great meals you know and love.

Specials

Right now, they’re offering their family pack #1 that feeds the family for only $23.95!! It includes one pound of pork or polish sausage, 2 sides, 4 buns and sauce. Check with the stores for daily specials.

Any of their scrumptious BBQ dinner plates make a great lunch or dinner choice. They include Texas toast, sides, smoked meat and their famous BBQ sauce. Or enjoy their famous homemade burgers, made with fresh beef patties seasoned and formed in-house daily. Or—back by popular demand—their black bean and veggie burgers. You can even take out beer available alongside their great to-go meals!

Cookies

But what about the cookies, you might ask? For those who don’t know, owner Ed Knight’s daughter, Audrey, began making cookies with her grandmother’s family recipe to sell in the restaurant way back when, and it wasn’t long before the barbecue crowd fell in love. Penguin Ed’s had another hit on their hands.

Fear not, even in these times, fans can still get ahold of the cookies. Penguin Ed’s is offering Take & Bake Cookie Kits for purchase from their Mission & Crossover location with 24 hours notice. Just call and let them know which cookie kit you would like to order, complete with baking instructions. Get the Baker’s Dozen, 13 cookies ready to pop into the oven at home for $12.95. Choose from Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Peanut Butter, Snickerdoodle, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip Toffee Pecan, M&M, Neiman Marcus or White Chocolate Apricot.

Or you can get a quart of their delectable sugar cookie dough to go. Let the kids have fun rolling it out, and creating their own shapes. About 25 mini cookies can be baked with a quart, for $19.95.

Catering

Penguin Ed’s catering is also available, and they’re busy delivering box lunches to local offices and factories. Choose from their smoked meats, salads and more. It’s a great lunch option to feed your hungry team working through this time! Call today and treat yourself to award-winning barbecue and more from the hard-working, still smokin’ team at Penguin Ed’s.
